Library History

Hamburg Township Library was founded in 1966, beginning its journey in a corner of the township office building. Through remarkable community support and dedication, the library has grown into today's state-of-the-art facility while maintaining its traditional charm and personality.

Key Milestones:
  • 1966: Founded in township office building
  • Early Growth: Moved to lumber yard on Les Belcher family donated land
  • 1975: Charles Davis wing added
Community Support:
  • Local firemen donated labor
  • Community contributions of money and materials
  • 2000: New facility built with resident support

From humble beginnings to a modern community hub, our library's history reflects the spirit of Hamburg Township - neighbors helping neighbors to build something lasting and meaningful for future generations.
